Films to fall in love to – Best Romantic Films

 Top 5 Romantic Films

Imagine this situation, it is your first date and you are trying to impress a girl. You need a film to watch in order to get that romance flowing. What do you chose? One of the most violent films you can find or a romantic movie? Of course, there is also the secret option of a Twilight movie, but let’s be honest, that’s not the best foot to get off on (especially if you are a guy who loves Twilight). Violent movies are out of the question, after all, nothing screams “you are only getting one date” more than pizza and Sylvester Stallone shooting random people. This leaves romantic films, the ultimate tear jerkers, the thing that will have that potential love cuddling up to you for the rest of the evening. However, with a plethora of romantic films out there and next to no knowledge on them, what do you choose? Let’s take a look at the top 5 romantic movies of all time.

Dirty Dancing

I am sure there is not a girl on the planet who doesn’t love Dirty Dancing. It has everything you could possibly want, love, good songs and Patrick Swayze. There honestly will not be a dry eye in that room at the conclusion of this movie. Sure, it wasn’t the critics favourite film of all time, but it has a long lasting legacy which is going to be felt for many years to come. This is a MUST WATCH for a first date.

The Notebook

This is a fairly new movie, but that doesn’t stop it being any less romantic. Even the most hardened guy in the world will be reduced to tears watching this movie, especially that kiss in the rain (something which you will certainly want to replicate with your lover in the future). This movie begins with an old many telling an old lady a story about two young lovers. The whole story is a well-thought out romantic story which eventually ends with the female protagonist having to choose between her first love and her fiancé. Which one will she choose? Well you will have to watch the film to find out! Ryan Gosling stars in this by the way, so those girls will go crazy (they seem to love him)

When Harry Met Sally

This is a pretty odd film compared to the others on the list. There is no obvious love, although it just feels romantic. Throughout this movie is clear that Harry and Sally hate each other. However throughout their lives they continually bump into each other and you get a perception that there are some feelings bubbling under the surface. This movie culminates in one of the most romantic speeches you are every likely to hear, and yes, I cried at that. This is a perfect movie for a date night.

Pretty Woman

This is a CLASSIC romantic movie starring Richard Gere and Julia Roberts, the former playing a wealthy businessman and the second a prostitute. As you can probably guess, they start to fall in love. This is a great film with a lot of light hearted moments to boot. It also gives the message that if you look beneath the surface of a person and their position you will find that everybody can be loved.

Titanic

I was a little bit wary of putting this on the list, but let’s face it, in 1997 this was one of the most captivating romantic movies for some time. The tale of forbidden love between the two protagonists of the story was completely heart wrenching, and of course, this relationship was never meant to be (the ship ends of sinking by the way) this film does go on for a while, but it gives you plenty of time to cuddle up to your lover.
